Thank you Scopitone, for the nice review about Cynthia Kittlers work on your wonderful Music&Art Blog!
Cynthia Kittler is an illustrator from a little village near Stuttgart, currently based in Mainz / Frankfurt. She graduated in Communication Design at the Fachhochschule Mainz - University of Applied Sciences and attended for a year the Hochschule Für Gestaltung Offenbach.
Her work is narrative in a subtle way and experimental. “And hopefully sometimes humouristic.” Influences and inspiration came from travelling, films, media, other visual artists, daily flood of images and world affairs. “Whether it´s about war or Fashion, places that I’ve never been to and conspiracies. Or sometimes certain materials will inspire me as well.”
Her implements include gouache, pencils and wax crayons. “I have a big collection of self-made structures that I use for collages or backgrounds.”
In September, her first real published’ book she illustrated will be out. “It’s a satirical Christmas book `Die Falle’ written by Robert Gernhardt and published by Büchergilde Gutenberg. Her collective, Parallel Universe Collective, recently printed a new zine, which will be out soon.
Her future plans involve leaving to New York for 3 months. “So if anybody wants to meet up for a cup of coffee, let me know!” In the distant future, she’d like to attend an artist residency.
